Thanks
to Alan Sill for this information
1.
Book a VRVS room
2. Bring up a VRVS client
3. Navigate to the "Client setup" tab and select
"H.323" Enter the ESNet meeting ID number
(88something, e.g. 8884336 for "88video" or
any other number beginning with 88 that you want) in the
"IP number" box (note -- NOT the usual IP number
of your machine, you are using this field to create the
bridge rather than to connect your own machine using H.323),
and enter the ECS Gatekeeper IP addr 198.128.xxx.xxx (when
you register with ECS you get this information)
in the Gatekeeper box. Make sure "Use Gatekeeper"
is selected.
4. Navigate back to the "Main" tab in the VRVS
window and connect the
conference.
This creates the bridge between the VRVS room and the
ESNet Codian
Notes:
- only make ONE such bridge per VRVS meeting -- it would
be easy for multiple people to try to make the bridge, but
only one is needed.
- It is not necessary to have a camera or microphone on
the machine you use for the VRVS session to create the bridge.
In fact, it is often more convenient to use a different
computer or browser than the one you use to connect to the
conference itself (by either method).
- VRVS will disconnect itself once per hour if you do not
have at least one other VRVS participant apart from the
bridge. In fact, I have seen it do so even if there
is one other VRVS participant, but Philippe says this was
a bug I think and will try to fix it. Moral: keep
an eye on the VRVS session used to make the bridge, and
restart it if needed.
- A separate VRVS session (different machine or browser)
is definitely needed if you yourself are going to try to
connect by VRVS and not by ESnet. I usually do the
latter...
